Inina and her team have been instrumental in the progress our son has made. We started working with YIG Autism Learning Centre team when Thomas was about 2 1/2. He had no eye contact, no words and was unresponsive, and we did not know how to help our child. Inina's compassion, energy and dedication, plus intense team supervision, made all the difference in the world. The team’s intensive work and confidence that Thomas could make progress and learn new skills meant everything to our family. Inina also trained and coached our family by giving us direction, guidance and emotional support. We will be forever thankful to the YIG Autism Learning Centre team for everything they have done for Thomas and our family.
Georgia, Mother Before my 4-year-old son started the ABA therapy he knew only limited words, and was assessed to have the functioning level of a 2 ½-year-old. During almost two years of intervention, my son has gone from a nonverbal, socially disconnected child to one who is now verbal, toilet trained, sleeps on his own, and dresses and feeds himself independently. Although we continue to have challenges to overcome, our son is definitely heading in the right direction. We owe our son's improvement to his team of therapists at YIG Autism Learning Centre, and especially Inina, who very patiently guides our son’s team and our family. When it comes to our training, supervision and follow-up, Inina is on top of things. We were very fortunate in finding Inina and her team at YIG Autism Learning Centre to work with our son, and we recommend them to other parents who are looking for a service provider. Jessica, Mother After interviewing about 30 service providers offering verbal behaviour (VB) therapy and floor time within the GTA, we remained unsatisfied that they could help our child. Inina and her team of therapists at YIG Autism Learning Centre came recommended by another parent whose child was struggling with similar issues. Since her team started working with our son, we have noticed steady progress in his communication skills, as well as his play skills. His vocabulary is increasing, his eye contact is improving, and we have begun to be able to engage with him in play activities. Inina readily shares her positive attitude and provides the reassurance parents so desperately need. In their approach, the team at YIG Autism Learning Centre utilizes a successful combination of different techniques, including floor time, VB and social skills training. The team is adept at responding to a child’s changing needs, adjusting goals and the environment accordingly. Our son simply adores Inina and his therapists. Kate, Mother My daughter’s quick exit from the IBI program is credited to Inina and her team at YIG Autism Learning Centre. Inina loves children and is always ready to help them and their families. My daughter is now attending regular school, talking more readily with her peers, and even doing things she was not interested in doing before. We cannot thank the team enough for all the hard work, dedication and life they gave our family. Samuel, Father In addition to supporting our son at his daycare, Inina and her team at YIG Autism Learning Centre continued to assist during the transition to his new school. Inina consulted with his teacher, teacher’s assistant and the Student Services Coordinator on strategies to help our son manage throughout his school day. This included various teaching tools, including a comprehensive binder of social stories she custom-wrote with the specific school situation in mind, and educational information for children on the autism spectrum. She also dedicated several hours to personally consult with the classroom teacher on ways to ensure our son would thrive in his new class. As a result, the transition to his new school was a success! Jennifer, Mother We hired Inina to work with our young autistic son when he was 16 months old. This was a stressful time for our family and Inina was incredibly helpful and supportive during this time. Inina made learning fun and motivating for our son. A special friendship blossomed between Inina and our son and he always looked forward to her visits, as did the rest of our family. Ultimately, improvements were observed in many areas of our son’s development, particularly in his verbal communication and play skills. Caroline, Mother |
